When I was a gm dealer service technician, customers would complain about the windshield wipers chattering and streaking. The gm approved solution was to clean the windshield with Bon Ami cleaning powder. It might be hard to find, so I have myself used a household cleaning product called Bar Keepers Friend. Wet the windshield down and sprinkle some bar keepers friend on the windshield. Use a clean cloth and scrub the windshield. You may have to add some water to the cloth to keep the cleanser moist. if you want your windshield clear from debri, wet the windshield down and use either 3 or 4 ott steel wool. we used it alot when i worked at a detail shop. it wont scratch your glass and it will clean all the wax, bugs and dirt off your window and leave it chrystal clear.
Dawn dishwashing liquid will remove wax from the windshield, just put a little on a damp sponge and wipe and rinse well. But be careful, it will take the wax of the paint if you get any on it.

laquer thinner works great just avoid getting it on your paint .
