Do you really need to hand wax your car or is the car wash?

wax they spray enough?Do you really need to hand wax your car or is the car wash?
The spray wax at the car wash is useless. it does nothing but suck some coins from your pocket, same as the drying agents, degreaser, etc. it's all crap from that car washes. The brushes also ruin your paint... never use those either.

A hand wax is the best choice in this case, but it also needs to be applied every couple months, wax does break down. you could go with a sealant and get 6 months to 1 year out of it. but a wax is only good for 6 weeks usually.

What I would look at is the condition of the paint in the first place, are you just convering up scratches? or would you rather spend some time and actually remove the scratches? that is an entirely different question. It is worth looking into though, see what you can do to your car's finish.Do you really need to hand wax your car or is the car wash?
If you want to protect your finish, you should always hand wash your car AND hand wax.

The drive-thru is good to remove some of the surface dirt, but is painfully inadequate to remove any of the stubborn soil.

On top of that, you should consider putting 2-3 coats of a good quality wax on whenever you wax, and also consider using a clay bar or other contaminant removal system between the wash and wax to ensure you don't bed the contaminants into your paint with the wax.
For a really great finish, no, the spray wax isn't enough. It doesn't coat very well, and the real secret to a great looking shine isn't just the wax, it's the prep and the maintanence of the paint. There's a write up on the five step process for detailing the paint here: http://www.squidoo.com/showcardetailing
that wax at those car washes is,nt very good. that,s just a fast wax if your going someplace important and you want a shine. it,s best to use the kind you put on with your hands.
I think the ';spaywax'; just slides the money out of your pocket and that's all. Get some good wax and take your time hand waxing the car.
Enough maybe
