Storing the car undercover out of the weather and away from the elements is the best, if you dont have a garage etc get a car cover - dont go cheap though because it will be nasty and not waterproof and will probably scratch your car too.
keep it clean and the paint will last longer - and always wash off any bird droppings immediately, hope this helps
also avoid auto-washes unless they are scratch free
